First Feather ƸӜƷ Action / Voice

[Early this nice morning, Kohaku had woken up very confused, with a whole jumble of new-ish memories. She didn't even start to walk around until she figured out how to make new holes in the back of her clothes again. But once she did, she found herself looking around the forest looking like a kid on Christmas morning. Oddly excited, oh so very curious, but very, very lost and confused. And instead of trying to remember anything so suddenly, she looks up to the tree she had been placed under.]

Might you know why I'm here? [The journal may not pick up any other sound than the wind, but Kohaku got one loud and clear.] Oh...that sounds familiar...Thank you.

[Once she got her answer, nothing else is heard over the journals. Instead she has started to roam, and memories of the forest had mostly came back to her as she almost instinctively finds her way to the village. Though by that time, she has already gathered a few friends.

As she walk around, it's almost impossible to not notice the pretty red birds. Each on one shoulder. And a bunny she's holding, carrying it ontop of her journal. Talking to them, and asking questions quite often. But she does have that confused look of a new feather, but at least not the clothes. Just don't mind her staring at you as you walk by, since she is trying her best to remember people now.

Eventually though, later in the day she can be found situated very neatly by the fountain, under a tree. Yes, sitting in the snow, still watching people, but she's finally remembers the most important thing. The book she's been carrying around all day!]

Uhm....hello? If I'm remembering this right, people can hear me!

I've been gone a very long time, but everything looks familiar so it might be longer for me than it was here. I would really like to know if some of my friends are still here, if that's not too much trouble.

Oh no, wait! I'm sorry, I'm supposed to introduce myself first... [She figures it's a bit too late, she she lets out an almost depressed sigh.] My name's Kohaku...I guess it's obvious I was here before now...

Reborn? Heh, isn't that nice. In my world humans just died and were sent to the underworld to be judged, if they were considered bad they were tortured eternally as punishment, if they were good they went to the Elysium, basically a heaven. I doubt any human has ever been found "good" by the rules used there.

[Probably even Esmeralda ended there, because she stepped on an ant or something like that. The judges didn't let anything go without punishment after all.]

So every time I died, I had to cross the whole hell to get back to the living world. As the Phoenix I can resurrect from my ashes, but there's no speed ticked through the process most of the time.

And it's like that for everyone? That's horrible

For me, rather than horrible it was immensely annoying.

[Because he had to walk all the way back to the entrance of hell and even without Hades' troops up for a fight that's not a field trip.]

But yes, it was horrible for people, though now I have no idea what happens when one dies since both hell and Elysium were destroyed when we defeated Hades. I want to think that it can't be anything worse than that.

[This is al so confusing to her. Especially since she hasn't heard anything from heaven and hell for a very long time..]

...How can you destroy hell?

We didn't destroy it directly, it vanished along with Hades because he was the one who created it in my world. He was the God of the Underworld.

I know who Hades is...but maybe with hell gone, everyone can go to heaven? [She doesn't know, but it sounds nicer.]

The Elysium was the only heaven we knew about, and that was created by Hades as well. So it crumbled with him.

[Ikki scratches his head.]

I doubt the gods in my world that are left care enough about human souls to create a new hell, much less a new heaven.

Then maybe humans will just be reborn?

[C'mon, work with her. She's trying to make it sound better.]

[He gives her another look and sighs.]

Maybe.

[Let's all ignore how that "maybe" sounded more like a "doubt it".]

[Maybe is...decent. She'll still smile a little about it.]

[He makes a "Hn" sound at her little smile and continues walking in silence for a moment.]

So, in your world every human is reborn? Just like that? No matter what kind of person they were, they get another chance to walk on Earth again and again?

That's right, since Heaven and Hell are only for angels and demons. And some can have a wish granted if they want to be born in at certain time and place, or something like that.

If they want to be born in at certain time and place? What, so someone from 1990 can wish to be born in 1890 if given the chance?

But what with humans who are evil? Are they given a second chance as well?

Of course. I even got into a lot of trouble in Heaven, and my punishment wasn't actually a punishment.

... Okay, you got me there.

[He stops and turns to look at her.]

You, got into trouble in Heaven? You? And not just trouble but a lot of trouble? I have to say that's very hard to believe.

[That reaction makes her laugh a little.]

I fell in love with a human, and disobeyed his orders to stay in Heaven...I also didn't do anything when Shuichiro caught Usyagi.

... You may want to expand a bit on that if you don't mind. Because right now I feel like punching your bosses.

You falling in love was a bad thing?!

[No really, what's this madness.]

Oh, alright.

I had two jobs on Earth, one to find an Archangel, and one to grant a wish to Shuichiro who had saved me. Eventually I ran out of time to find Madam Hisui, and I didn't want to go back, and we trapped one of Gods messangers, but eventually I was found and made to go back to Heaven. But I didn't want to stay there for long, and went back to Earth without permission...then I found out too late why God wanted me back in Heaven, but it was too late...Shuichiro died the next night.

I got in a lot of trouble for lying, and not following the rules. But my punishment was to sleep for a hundred years until he was reborn. Now I just can't go back to Heaven, but that's alright.

Ah... Geez, you should explain things a bit more Kohaku. For a second your God sounded like an asshole rather than a stubborn jerk.

[The last part isn't said with real intention as an insult, really. But your God could have told you from the start... And that bit about not being able to go back at all sucks. But Ikki doubts it really bothers her if she can be with the person she loves.

Ikki resumes the walk to the apartment.]

So now every time Shuichiro dies you go to sleep until he is reborn?

I didn't mean for it to sound that way...He was very nice, and everyone thought I was one of his favorite angels.

[She thinks that him not tellling her about Shuichiro was much nicer than if he would've.]

No, just that one time. Sometimes it would be nice if I could, but I have to take care of the house and garden.

I know you didn't and I can say he's not an asshole. At most just overprotective.

[It was nicer, Ikki admits that, but still he could have said something to show that he was mindful of her feelings.]

So you just live on, alone until he is reborn? Or you don't even get to meet him then?
