[It's been over three weeks since Kohaku has come back here. All of her memories seem to be back...that she's aware of. And she's been out and around everywhere just about everyday since her first day back. Mostly she's been trying to find things to do, but since it is winter, her attempts at finding things to do just hasn't gotten her anywhere. Back home she had gotten used to having things to do. But here? She has no errands, and more importantly, she has no garden to take care of. And while she does like winter, spring is closer to her favorite. So today seems like a good day to ask for something to do, and she knows the perfect thing.]

Hello. To those that are taking care of the flower shop, I was wondering if I could help out too. I'm very good at taking care of plants, since I take care of a garden back home, and I miss that very much already. So if you say yes, I promise I'll do really good. I can even do all of the watering that's needed!

If not, I undertand. There's probably a few people there already.


[After asking, she can't help but feel a little anxious, since she really would like to be there and have something to do. So while she waits, she'll go looking for something to keep herself busy. And not long after, she's found herself at one of the bridges, and seeing that there's still some ice to walk on. So she'll walk down to the frozen water, setting her open journal on the grass near her as she steps onto the ice.

She never had the chance to walk on ice, especially since the only water back home by Shuichiro's house. People got mad at the children who would even look like they were about to try it.

So if you're nearby, there might be an interesting scene going on. She doesn't have the right shoes on for walking on ice.]

[She leads her away from the front door, around the few stands that were put up to keep out the wind.]

Let's see... for the watering, there are various small hoses attached to sinks, and then that is used to distribute it to the watering cans for the smaller plants. Always be aware of which setting you're using as well, and... do you know how to check the soil?

I do. Back home I've been taking care of a garden for a very long time...but I'm used to watering with magic.

That's fine as well. Sometimes you want to be careful not to draw too much water from the air in here, however.

[She leads her toward a small section of racks.] In case someone asks you, this is where we keep the seeds. The identified ones are in packets on these racks, separated into categories of herbs, vegetables, plants, specific flowers, and so forth. [She indicates the labels on the racks as well, though they're also color coded.] Ones that we haven't been able to identify yet are on the rack over here. We plant a few every once in a while to try and determine what they are.

[Which sometimes works out nicely, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it leads to... interesting results.]

I'll be careful. [She'll just have to hope nobody else is there or they'll get wet.]

And oh wow, that's a lot of information to take in.] I might be able to help identify them.

You're certainly welcome to try. The seeds vary greatly, from common flora found around here, to plants that come from a variety of worlds. Sorting them can be a bit of a time consumer if you aren't sure what to look for.

[She leads her to the next area.] This is the station where the cut flowers are wrapped. Most people tend to do it themselves, but sometimes they ask for help with arranging the bouquets.

I like growing plants at home, so it wouldn't be too hard.

[And Kohaku stays a few steps away from there.] I'm sorry. I won't be able to do something like that.

Even so, you'd be surprised by the variety here.

[She nods at the next admission.] That's fine. All you'd need to do is let people know where the area and supplies are, if they ask. There are a few books that could give them ideas as well. I prefer handling the live plants myself, but sometimes they show up in the item shop already cut up, so we bring them here and hope for the best.

[amberguardian]

That just means it will be fun.

I can do that. [As long as she doesn't have to watch the plants being cut, she should be okay...ish.]

I enjoy it as well, and it never hurts to have another pair of eyes around.

[She nods, and moves to the next section.] This is the reference area, where there are books on various types of plants, gardening, and so forth. If there's a question people have that we can't answer off the top of our heads, a lot of them can be answered here. Also, there are a few charts on this clipboard for what seasons certain vegetables grow best in, since we've been getting a few questions about that. There are a few other charts around that you're also welcome to familiarize yourself with.

That's easy. I don't know very much about crop plants.

[She turns and tilts her head at that, curiously.] Hear them?

Yes, almost like I can hear people. I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that.

You don't have to apologize, that's incredible! Does it include all forms of plant life?

[amberguardian]

It does. Everything from trees to flowers.

[wise_maiden]

I see. Perhaps you could let me know what they're saying sometime, if it isn't meant to be a secret. We often talk to plants, but can only use the signs of their outward health as ways of determining what their needs are. Knowing what they have to say for themselves could be quite a breakthrough in how we tend to them...

It's not a secret, it just confuses people usually. But that's why I'm so good with plants...and if you want, I can let you hear them too.

[That curious side had been dampened for a while, but there's some spark that lights up in her eyes briefly at that mention - after all it is something new and unexpected.] That's possible?!

[Wow, Kohaku hasn't met anyone that got this excited before.] Yes, it is.

I'm certainly curious. Do you have to be around for it to work?

I do. I have to be touching someone's hand that's touching a plant for them to hear.

I see... here, let me finish showing you around first, and then we can try out that gift of yours.
