I've been here so long, and I should've wondered this before...does anyone know just how high up the barrier goes? It's not very important, but it sounds like a good question...maybe I should've tried it.

Oh...and Okita...I found a cat...I was wondering if I could keep her. [She has to ask...there are already a few animals in the house.

Later in the day Kohaku can be found on a bench in the middle of town, but she's not alone. Wrapped up in a scarf that's in her lap is indeed, a fluffy little white kitten. Luckily she knows enough about cats so she doesn't need to ask anyone how to take care of them. So she can be seen happily giving it small bites of cheese.

And if anyone around during one awkward moment, well...her face just say's 'something is wrong'.

Why?

Well she finally got the guts to take a bite of cheese. One she specifically found only made out of cheese and minerals. And after going 300 years of only having milk and honey...well, it tastes weird, and she doesn't know how to react...it's a miracle she doesn't look sick.]

Much later in the day, she returns to her journal]

Just...what is cheese supposed to taste like..?

That just means that she'll have plenty of time to get used to things, and maybe Saizou will take a shine to her if we're lucky.

[Raising an animal from such a young age had as many advantages as there were disadvantages...but Kohaku lived on love and sunshine. He figured that she knew how to take care of a cat.]

Nope. I've only ever had milk and honey.

I hope that does happen.

[She's never taken care of a young cat. She just helped take care of the ones that lived near her home. She'll just be overly protective of a kitten.]

Even here? You've been continuing to eat only milk and honey?

Yes, I still follow...most of the rules from Heaven. Besides, milk and honey are the only thing I've ever had, and seeing anything dead makes me feel sick.

[He's not unfamiliar with the idea of vegetarianism, but he finds himself asking anyway...]

Yes. The rule is that we can't have anything that once had life. That's why, up until now, I've never had anything else but milk and honey.

There's a lo of different cheeses you can try, at least.

Not too many. I have to know what was put in it to make it...and that's a lot more reading than I'm used to.

[He's presuming, based on how old Kohaku has to be by now.]

No, it's nice to have something to drink. For a lot of reasons.

[And for Kohaku, that could mean a very long time by Souji's standards. He nods slightly and decides it's best not to talk about people from the past. Instead, he looks down at the cat in her lap, still clinging to his fingers.]

I see... even so, I am sure she will be fine with you.

Shinju... does this name have some meaning?

[He knows that humans like to give names with symbolic or important meanings. Perhaps it was the same with angels too.]

It means pearl.

I knew a cat with that name a long time ago.
