Tenth Feather ƸӜƷ Video / Voice

[Kohaku has been quiet for a while. She's been in the forest most of the time, to find new things, and animals, but most notably can currently be seen from her journal. Placed at just the right distance away from a new and very pretty tree she found. (Though with a few less colors.) But the silence is broken soon by her laughing. This is something very new to her, even if other people can't hear it, it looks so new.

And the amazement is quite clear in her voice.]

I've seen so many plants before, but this is the first one that I've ever found to have more than one personality!

...I have no idea how I'm supposed to talk to it though...Talking to more than one plant at a time is already confusing enough...

[Then much later in the day-]

Uhm...I've been avoiding asking this for a long time, but...is there anyone that would be willing to teach me how to swim? I've never been in a lot of water, but I always hear that it's a lot of fun...

And it seems a little strange to be so old and have never tried it before...though I haven't tried a lot of things.

Maybe it might be a good idea to make a list of things I should try some day...

Not at all. I can only sleep like that without waking up. With magic I only sleep...well, like anyone else.

A little, but no one was supposed to find me until the time was up, when I'd return to normal.

[She'll have that problem for quite a while...and the awkward fact that she's not really a girl or boy because she can't lie.]

So your new friend just had pretty bad timing? Gettin' found early didn't mess stuff up for you, did it?

No, I don't think so. I never got to ask about him when I woke up later, but everything seemed okay, since I woke up right when Shuichiro came to the house.

Seriously? That's pretty great timin'! And then you stayed awake with him?

Well, God had pretty much planned it so that when he came, the time was up. So I was normal sized, and everything!

[Firo wants to be happy for them, really. But his natural cynicism prompts him to scoff.]

The same guy who screwed things up for you in the first place?

No, only him, and a few demons knew that Shuichiro was going to die soon, which is why he wanted me back in heaven. So I wouldn't be hurt.

I made everything worse by going back to heaven. And while I did disobey orders, god still made everything so I could still be happy. So the punishment I recieved was really a gift.

[Kohaku sees NO bad in people...ever...unless they've tried to kill her...which is only 2 people.]

[He frowns, stuck for a response. It occurs to him that perhaps her god is like his boss; he'd probably say these exact same things she is if it were the Don doing them.]

Huh. So they didn't want you to hafta see all that...

Yeah. I can understand that. You kinda owe it to a friend, don'cha?

[His friends have never abandoned him, even when the end seemed pretty close. He can't imagine turning his back on them.]

Uh-huh. And everything worked out great.

[He laughs.]

Well, I'm glad to hear it. Not a lotta people can say that.

That's true, but sometimes I still get a chance to help with that

But...What about your story?

[He knows hers, so of course she's curious.]

Uh, well, I don't know any angels or anything. And I've definitely never slept as long as you have... but I do know some people who might be almost as old.

No, not that. I mean a story that made you, you.

[He doesn't think to much about how he wound up being the way he is, except on the occasions when he bemoans his terrible decisions and mistakes.

He's afraid that the only interesting story about him would be about the elixir, and even then that story belongs to so many other people too. But just as he's about to try and wiggle out of this, he actually gets an idea. It's not something he shares with too many people, but he's in a sentimental mood.]

I guess that'd mean somethin' to do with my Family. I could tell you how I met 'em.

...You didn't know your family?

Nah, I didn't meet 'em until... I guess it woulda' been over ten years ago by now.

[Firo's use of the term is pretty confusing. It doesn't help that his camorra Family is also his "family".]

I mean, I had parents before that, but these guys are family.

But...parents are family to right?

[Yep, she's confused.]

Yeah, most a' the time.

[Szilard was Ennis's "parent", in a way, but he sure as hell wasn't family.]

But family's not just people you're related to. I couldn't have been born with a better family than what I have now.

[The Martillos, Ennis, Czes, the Gandor brothers... and some people that he's met in Luceti, too. He's gone from being an orphan only child to a tiny cog in a big family and he couldn't be happier.]

Then you're lucky!

I've never thought about family though. It's not like angels are really related...but we do have teachers who we're close to.
